Dear Parents:
Let me begin by saying that our prayers go out to the entire University Christian School Family. This tragedy has caused us to revisit our security measures, and I want to take a moment to share what we are doing to ensure your child's safety here at FBA.
The Security Personnel at First Baptist Church have a visible presence around our campus. One of our officers walks the grounds, including our fenced-in playground area, each morning before the sun rises and our students arrive and randomly patrols throughout the day. Another is posted across from our Dining Area and others are available at a moment's notice. As an added safety measure, we also have an officer who is now in the garage during parent pick-up. If you want to go through the doors you must present your FBA badge to the officer.
Some of you have expressed concerns regarding the glass doors leading into the building from the parking garage crosswalk. In addition to regular maintenance checks on the doors, the faculty and staff are helping to keep an eye on those doors. The only times those doors should be propped open are when there is a staff member or FBA volunteer monitoring the doors. If you happen to walk through, and the doors are propped open, please un-prop the doors and let me know immediately. A major concern is the time between 3:30-6:00 p.m. when parents are coming to pick up students from extended day. Please help us by keeping the doors shut when you come and go.
Finally, the FBA Staff is equipped with immediate communication to our security department by handheld devices.
We are frequently revising our methods of security, and welcome any ideas you might like to share to aid in this effort.

- Tuesday, February 16 - Open House for parents of K- 8th grade students for the 2010-2011 school year - 6:00 p.m. - Grand Lobby of the Academy
- Thursday, February 18 - Character Dress Up Day - (Kindergarteners - 6th grades only)
- Friday, February 26 - Progress Reports
- Monday, March 1- Wednesday, March 3 - Spring Photos (optional) - more details to follow
- Friday, March 5 - Grandparents' Day - Please return your completed form to the school and purchase your grandparent meal tickets in the office ($7/person).
